New York City’s Du’Lanci Vallie is best known as the artist of four popular instrumental projects, “White” (Feb. 2022), “Save Me from Dying” (Sep. 2021), “Checking Out” (July 2021), and “Heartbreak Motel” (Feb. 2021). These have accrued thousands of plays and followers on Spotify as well as other sources. He has been most recently compared to the work of Drake and Asaiah Ziv.

TGWEWON describes Du’Lanci Vallie as a true descendant of the original NYC hip-hop sound. He has performed live in three of the four corners of North America, Los Angeles, Miami and New York City.

Asked to describe his goal in music, Du’Lanci Vallie had this to say:

“Why not make music if you have the gift? At least, that’s my take on it, and I truly feel one of my best gifts in life is to be able to create music. We all want money but self-expression is hard to come around and music is definitely my tool of expression. A good song is a good song but when it touches those emotional chords in your body, it’s a feeling you crave over and over.”

To fans new and old Vallie writes,

“Stay true to the light inside of you and when it gets dark don’t show fear. You can do anything you put your mind to though I didn’t believe it at first. It took me too long to believe in myself — but if I can overcome storms, so can you. Thank God.”

The songwriter and producer of contemporary Christian and gospel music known as Sherrell “Rell” Mitchell has released his latest official single, “I Am Free in Jesus.” It has been proudly published as an independent release without the involvement of the corporate music industry on the Psalm 96 Records record label. Soulful, spirit-filled, and one-hundred-percent founded on the Rock of the Holy Spirit, “I Am Free in Jesus” is the newest reason to acquaint the ears with Sherrell Mitchell as one of the best-accomplished musicians for Christ in 2022.

Seattle’s Sherrell Mitchell cites as main artistic influences legends of the genre like Cora Jackson, Grady Austin, and Fred Hammond. Fans of the sound will recognize likenesses, also, of artists such as Darrell Hawk, Phil Curry, Vivian Perryman, Chick Corea, L. Spencer Smith, Israel Houghton … Ultimately, though, praise music from Sherrell Mitchell mainly rings true to itself and to its Benefactor, Himself, also.

Asked to describe the overall theme of “I Am Free in Jesus,” Sherrell Mitchell writes purely, “Freedom in Christ.” Then he quotes at length from his father, Rev. George Mitchell:

“In our day-to-day living, we look forward to having a safe and prosperous existence; however there are some of us who experience grave injustices simply because we are different in some way. In all that we experience, regardless of the magnitude of the injustice, there is deliverance. Even when it don’t look like it, know that we are free in Jesus.” — Rev. George Mitchell

Psalm 96 Records describes Sherrell Mitchell as having begun music in 1991 just before his discharge from the US military.

“I bought a piano I didn’t know how to play,” writes Mitchell. “Started taking lessons and practicing scales all day every day — I drove my Family CRAZY! Shortly after being discharged from the Navy, I used my G.I. Bill to enroll in college for Music at the Univ. of Alaska Anchorage.”

In addition to the considerable talents of Mitchell, himself, “I Am Free in Jesus” also boasts the skills of Tommie Burton (lead vocals), Lisa Allen, Jamie Najera, Dana Jackson, Robbie D. Mitchell, and Tanisha Brooks (backing vocals), Hank Phillips (bass), Ivan Payne (drums and percussion) and Navele Davis (guitar).

“I Am Free in Jesus” was composed, arranged, produced, and performed by Rell with mix engineering by Joel Maddox and mastering by Blake Bickel of Dynamic Sound Service. Backing vox were recorded at Jack Straw Studios. It drops with original artwork by Hung-Pham. Rell cites as inspiration for the track Rev. George Mitchell, author of “Human Injustice…Spritual Deliverance.”

Rell Mitchell also gives the following accolades, writing:

“I 1st would like to give all thanks and praises to God from whom all Blessings flow.  I’d also like to thank all the people who worked on the project, and for my good friend who did the lead on this song, Mr. Tommie Burton aka ‘The Voice.’ Thank you so much Brother for lending your Beautiful Vocals to this project. I appreciate you, Sir.”
