The musical composer from Canberra, Australia known as Thai Lee has released his newest LP record, titled, “Across Time,” to universally positive reviews. The album has been released on the Across Time Records music label. Being comprised of 14 new, original tracks from Thai Lee, it has an approximate total playing time of over 45 minutes, making for a fairly comprehensive treatment of Lee’s repertoire. A thought-provoking, sonically ornate and beautiful album, “Across Time” is accessible for music fans of any genre, and stands as evidence that Thai Lee is a composer of great taste and capability.
The sound of “Across Time” is one of delicately balanced tones and moods that ebb and flow like tidal fluctuations. A collection of carefully sculpted compositions, it narrates visual scenes as vividly as the classical works of the great composers of yore. It evokes emotions from a wide spectrum of feeling, and consistently fills the listener with a sense of adventure and natural awe for the spectacle of existence itself. It is a work of modest artistic integrity, gorgeously showcasing Lee’s many talents with neither reserve nor ostentation.
“Music started off as a hobby over 10 years ago,” writes Thai Lee of his music. “I decided to take it further and turn my songs it into something that I would be proud of.”
Clearly an object in which any composer could take pride, “Across Time” is also a vast, sprawling album that suggests vistas, valleys, and horizons beyond the mind’s eye. It is a hike through both creativity and creation. It is astral projection in the form of music.
Lee himself describes his aims for “Across Time” very clearly. “I hope that this album triggers the imagination of my listeners,” he writes, “conjuring up imagery and taking them on a journey across time. It is a collection of songs that symbolizes the beginning, middle and the end to love, life, sorrow, knowledge and beauty. It is about life and death, letting go and moving on and coming home (whether it is taken in a literal sense or more metaphorically).”
He cites as main artistic influences fairly disparate musicians, namely, Enya, Nobuo Uematsu, Hanz Zimmer, and Nigel Westlake.
“Across Time” by Thai Lee is available online worldwide beginning 1 August 2013.
