French EDM composer DP releases new album ‘House Vol. 1’

The French composer of EDM known internationally as DP has released his latest LP record, “House Vol. 1.” The album contains nine original DP tracks for an approximate total listening time of 45 minutes. Like the rest of DP’s repertoire, it has been proudly published as an independent title without the direction of the corporate music industry. Varied, textured, and bringing the electronic dance sound back to its roots in the most direct manner imaginable, “House Vol. 1” proves yet again that DP has more music in his bag of tricks than nearly any other contemporary artist.

DP (formerly / also known as DJ Pad) has published more original music since 2012 in any category than 99% of the world’s musicians, and quite possibly all of them. With over 800 tracks under his belt and more all the time, casual music makers just can’t compete with his unheard-of prolific creative output.

He has cited as main artistic influences for his house music such names as Afrojack, Sebastian, Swedish House Mafia, Infected Mushrooms, Psycraft, Hallucinogen, ATB, Cosmic Gate, Atomic Cat and Angerfist, but notes also that Hanz Zimmer, Mike Oldfield and others inform his music in general.

DP has made a name for himself by moving through the EDM world one category at a time, leaving behind him multiple volumes of fresh tracks in each electronic genre. A classically trained musician since the age of six, he is a virtuoso accordion player and accomplished hand at music theory. It is this background which allows him to put his creativity to work in any digital sound arena in which he currently takes interest.

The “House Vol. 1” LP record from DP is even more remarkable than if it were merely his first movement from 800 tracks toward the 900 mark, in that it is his first official release since November 2016’s “Let’s Bounce,” a full-length exploration of Melbourne bounce and epic, sweeping tracks which would have to sate his fans until this new drop of house music.

What is more, DP is rumored to have yet more music in the pipeline for Q2 2018. Time will tell.

The Chicago-raised Mr. Red cites as main artistic influences Jay Z, Jeezy, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Pusha T, Yo Gotti, 50 Cent, N.W.A., Drake, and Future. Asked to describe the overall themes of his “Expensive Taste,” Mr. Red writes, “The message that I want my listeners to get from my music is how get money and live good, and not only just listen, but visualize the picture that I’m trying to paint with my words.”

“Expensive Taste” is the most recent addition to Mr. Red’s repertoire which already includes the singles “I’m a O.G. F/ King Louie,” which charted in the Top 200, and “Plug f/ Scotty,” as well as a 2015 mixtape, “Mr. Red the O.G., Hosted by DJ Holiday.”

Informing the music and urban poetry of Mr. Red is a history of hard living in the streets of Chi-Town.

“My mom and pops made me,” says Red, “but the streets raised me.”

Mr. Red’s music has been described as a “near-perfect balance of power, respect, fear, and knowledge that can’t be bought, duplicated or faked.”

Red has used the motto, “Bringing back the real,” and his current official bio describes his music as being “up-front in your face and hardcore,” yet “not so far-fetched that it’s unbelievable.”

“If I was born white,” Mr. Red has said, “I’d be CEO of a Fortune 500 corporation, but instead you get Mr. Red, the streets’ C.E.O. And my main objective in this business is I wanna get rid of the impossible and bring back the probable.”

Singer and songwriter Taylor D releases new single ‘Daddy’s Girl’

The singer and songwriter known as Taylor D has released his latest official single, “Daddy’s Girl.” Like previous releases in Taylor D’s repertoire, “Daddy’s Girl” has been proudly published on the Studio in the Sticks independent record label without the direction of the corporate music industry. An upbeat, heartfelt and wholesome work of genuine American pop rock music, “Daddy’s Girl” showcases Taylor D as a true voice of the American west in the 21st century.

Arizona’s Taylor D cites as main artistic influences the Beatles, the Eagles, Jackson Browne, Steve Miller Band, America, Simon and Garfunkel, and Steely Dan. His own sound blends subtle country notes with overt elements of classic rock and contemporary pop music for a sound which can appeal to a wide variety of listeners all over the world.

Core of and key to the popularity of Taylor D’s music is his insistence on earnestness and authenticity.

“So much music out there is artificial sounds/loops/grooves and beats,” says Taylor D of this. “It sounds great but it’s synthetic. It’s perfect, yet kinda fake at the same time … I record from the raw. I use real instruments void of all these artificial studio tricks. I don’t believe in tricking the listeners. This way when you play live, it’s the real deal.”

This makes even more sense when one takes into account Taylor D’s reasons for making music to begin with.

“Honestly,” he says, “as a super-achiever and a guy that would take on just about any dare, between martial arts, military service, and contracting over four-thousand commercial and residential projects, I needed some stress relief.”

Working out digital compositions on a DAW doesn’t seem as relaxing as pounding out pop music on a guitar. But that’s not Taylor D’s only motivation for releasing “Daddy’s Girl.” He’s also inspired by his daughter, naturally.

“Daddy and daughter relationships are amazing, crazy and zany times, to be cherished!” he writes. “Just like that, overnight that little baby in the palm of your hand turns ten years old! Wow!

What a ride! Okay, so let’s make this song reflective and fun! I love to smile and laugh.

The world needs much more smiling and laughing for sure! I hope this song helps that!”

The experimental artist known as Són, has released his latest instrumental album, “Rituals.” The album contains 10 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 30 minutes. The album has been published on the independent record label ‘Scissors’. Textured, colorful, rife with depth and endlessly thought-provoking, “Rituals” by Són is one of the most intriguing instrumental albums of 2018 yet.

Són is the alter ego of German-born, Los Angeles-based Julian Scherle. He takes his name, Són, from both the Latin word for noise or sound and a proto-Slavic term meaning dream or sleep. Rock legends Black Merda release new LP ‘Forward from the Past’

The titans of American rock known as Black Merda have released a new offering for fans new and old, “Forward from the Past.” The milestone LP includes 12 original Black Merda tracks for a listening time approaching a full hour. It has been proudly published on the Third Child Productions Inc. independent record label. It is the eighth offering from the group since their self-titled debut on Chess Records in 1970. Featuring razor-sharp instrumentation, socially conscientious songwriting, and that classic Detroit funk-rock sound the band helped innovate nearly fifty years ago, “Forward from the Past” stands as proof that Black Merda can slay with the best of them in the 21st century.

Black Merda cite as artistic influences Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, Sly Stone, James Brown, and Freddie King. They also cite as a major influence simply, “being from Detroit, Motown.”

The Motor City funk-rock crew have influenced far more musicians than can feasibly have influenced Black Merda, themselves, however, and this influence may seem stronger today than ever before.

“There’s many young people who’s starting to really appreciate the heartfelt music of the past,” write Black Merda. “We want to lead the way in keeping it alive.”

Fans of the group will note that “Forward from the Past” maintains a steady course from 2009’s “Force of Nature” while incorporating more contemporary digital music methods at the same time. The result is a rock record with soul, groove, rhythm, and plenty to say to audiophiles of every age and creed.

“The title of the album is ‘Forward from the Past,’” note Black Merda. “We want to keep elements of the past in the now and future.” They describe the record’s aim as “trying not to lose the realness of live music while mixing in some of the sequenced sounds of today.”

Black Merda began in the mid-1960s and reunited in 2005. Today they are original members Charles Hawkins, Anthony Hawkins, and VC L. Veasey. They survive drummer Tyrone Hite who passed away in 2004. They have shared the stage with the likes of Edwin Starr (“War”), Gene Chandler (the Duke of Earl), Wilson Pickett, the Spinners, the Artistics, Billy Butler, the Chi-Lites, Joe Tex, Jackie Wilson, the Temptations, Eric Burdon (the Animals) and War. Their story is a legitimate part of music history.

More recently, Black Merda were sampled by Ja Rule in 2005 and by Kanye West in 2009. The Detroit Metro Times named the Merda’s 1970 track, “Cynthy-Ruth” as one of the 100 Greatest Detroit Songs Ever. The track was also featured in the HBO documentary, “The Nine Lives Of Marion Barry” (2009). Spinner.com featured Black Merda in their 2010 article, “In Living Color: 20 Important Black Rockers Past and Present.” Their 2009 reunion LP’s chief single, “Take A Little Time,” was re-released on Mojo Magazine’s 2010 compilation, “Heavy Soul.” The Detroit Metro Times also revisited Black Merda in 2010 by choosing their self-titled 1970 debut album as one of “Detroit’s Greatest Hits that Should Have Been” (10 November 2010, Music Issue).

“Forward from the Past” by Black Merda from Third Child Productions is available online worldwide from over 600 quality digital music stores now. Get in early, funk fans and fans of the Detroit rock sound everywhere.
