Composer Gustavo de Beauville releases second instrumental LP ‘Volume 2’

The composer of atmospheric instrumental music known as Gustavo de Beauville has released his second full-length album, “Volume 2.” The record contains no fewer than 20 original tracks for an approximate listening total of one hour. It has been proudly published as an independent release without the direction of the corporate music industry. Epic in scope, emotionally sweeping, and capable of painting vivid soundscapes for cinema, video games, or rapt, personal listening, “Volume 2” solidifies Gustavo de Beauville as one of the scene’s most accomplished new composers.

Canada’s Gustavo de Beauville cites as main artistic influences Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Plaid, Two Steps from Hell, Dead Can Dance, ’90s grunge, and background scores from films like the Matrix and from legendary video games such as “Perfect Dark,” “Time Splitters,” and “Mega Man.”

Songs on De Beauville’s “Volume 2” also boast awe-inspiring, often bleak and intimidating futuristic overtones.

“The music of Volume 2 is a collection of hybrid orchestral and electronic rock tracks written to support a sci-fi themed experience,” writes the composer of his new LP. “The songs are a celebration of the hours spent playing same-screen multiplayer games with good friends. They are a nod to the kid who was perceived as being alone in their room – but in whose mind was on an epic quest to save the world.”

Also plainly heard on the record are De Beauville’s roots playing guitar in rock music. Prior to his career as a composer, he spent the bulk of his time writing and performing in heavy metal bands. As such, he has populated “Volume 2” with extensive analog guitar which lend the record an organic, live quality audiophiles will appreciate.

Gustavo De Beauville is a multi-instrumentalist and audio engineer trained at the famous Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology. Specializing in dark and shadowy music, De Beauville has contributed to film, video games, and has released several original progressive-rock albums.

Christian singer-songwriter Jokia releases debut EP ‘Not Forgotten’

The singer and songwriter of contemporary Christian music known internationally as Jokia has released her debut EP record, “Not Forgotten.” The album contains six original Jokia tracks for an approximate total listening time of 25 minutes. It has been proudly published as an independent music release without direction from the corporate music industry. Uplifting, inspirational and founded soundly on the Christian Bible, “Not Forgotten” shows Jokia to be a woman of Christ and a clarion voice for the Christian music scene in the 21st century.

Belton, Texas’ Jokia (often stylized JOKIA) cites as main artistic influences Israel Houghton, Kirk Franklin, Cece Winans, Brandy, and Tye Tribette. Her own sound is stylish, heartfelt, and precise in a way not often heard in the era of ubiquitous autotune. Fans of the Christian contemporary genre will no doubt feel drawn to her lyric themes, which are declarative in their spiritual subject matter, but also to the sheer quality of her strong, natural vocal work, which manages to sound beautiful and courageous without the slightest hint of pride.

“The music that Jokia writes and sings is true, genuine worship music,” reads her current official bio. “When people hear her music, they instantly feel the intense joy of worship that she felt throughout her faith. Believing every word with all of her heart, it’s hard not to walk away from a Jokia song without feeling the love and grace of Jesus Christ.”

A veteran of the United States military, Jokia taught herself guitar while deployed in Iraq. By the time she returned home, she knew it well enough to lend her guitar playing to the parish at her home church, Shiloh Worship Center. Today her music is said to have “brought a fresh new sound to Christian Contemporary Music. In a relatively short amount of time, she has invited listeners to engage in worship in a way that few other artists can.”

“Not Forgotten” by Jokia has debuted at #29 for Christian/Gospel Album Sales, #26 in Christian Album Sales, and #7 on the Heatseekers South Central charts.

Jokia has stated that her music ministry goals are to be known as a worshiper. She wants her music to set listeners free by the grace of Jesus.

Rappers Southern Music Group release debut LP ‘This Is What We Stand On’

The performers and producers of hip hop known as Southern Music Group have released their debut LP album, “This Is What We Stand On.” The LP has been proudly published on the Southern Music Group independent label without the direction of the corporate music industry. Bringing 12 original SMG tracks for an approximate total listening time of over 40 minutes, “This Is What We Stand On” is evidence that these hip hop titans from Texas are a crew deserving of attention.

Austin’s Southern Music Group cite as main artistic influences Trae the Truth, Lil Flip, ESG, Lil Kee Kee, Hawk, Dj Screw, and Z-Ro. Their own sound is pure rap music unadulterated by flashy effects and invasive melody lines, drawing power from the urban poetry of SMG themselves: LV da Boss, Texas Terror, and Young RnB.

“This Is What We Stand On” manages to have a unique Southern texture and character without having much in common with the “dirty south” sound. It’s smart, it’s direct, it’s aggressive without being obnoxious, and each track pulls at the listener and doesn’t let go. Fans of witty lines, clever rhymes and that old-school boom bap should definitely apply.

Asked to comment on the themes of their debut record, Southern Music Group write, “Stay real to what you say. Stay true to who you are and not for someone else’s cause or purpose.”

This principle grounds “This Is What We Stand On” with a foundation of respect for their fans and for the art form. It’s a true communication that comes clearly through in their lyrics and delivery of each track.

“Too many artists rap or sing wanna-be fantasy,” SMG write. “They sell out to dreams and fame. We keep it real where everyone who listens and follows SMG can relate.”

The result is a hip hop record that’s more legitimate as artistic social interaction than the typical amateur rap single. Fans of hip hop have much to look forward to in “This Is What We Stand On” by Southern Music Group. Get in early, rap fans.

Hip hop artist Pedezi releases single ‘We Winnin’

The Midwest hip hop artist known as Pedezi has released his latest official single, “We Winnin.” It has been released in both explicit and radio-ready versions. Both tracks have been proudly published on the Haterproof Entertainment independent music label without the direction of the corporate music industry.

Bumping with bass, rattling with rhythm and featuring the lyric skills of one of Ohio’s newest rising rappers, “We Winnin” stands as evidence that Pedezi ranks among 2017’s most intriguing names in hip hop.

Pedezi cites as main artistic influences legends such as Twista, Tupac Shakur, Biggie Smalls, Jay Z, EightBall & MJG, Master P, R Kelly, Do or Die, Crucial Conflict, UGK, Scarface, Bone Thugs ‘n’ Harmony, and Lil Wayne.

His own style, much like the given roster, bears elements of both nineties and new-millennium hip hop. Fans of both the old school and the latest pop and hip hop hits will find much to appreciate in “We Winnin.”

Asked to describe the themes of his latest single, Pedezi writes, “Its all about ‘winning’ and taking what you have and making the most of it by any means necessary!”

This aggressively ambitious attitude gives Pedezi’s delivery a confidence that fans across the United States have come to expect from his music. It has also brought him from his childhood group, TJKD –

in which performers’ ages ranged from 10-12 – to playing live as an opening act for titans like T.I., Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Twista, and many more in the Ohio area.

Born in Chicago, raised in Fremont and writing, recording and performing now out of Cleveland, Pedezi has a good chance of taking the Ohio area by surprise in Q4 2017 and beyond.

“We Winnin” by Pedezi on the Haterproof Entertainment label is available from over 600 digital music retailers online worldwide now.

BluesRock & Country Inc. release fourth LP album ‘Rock’n Roll Heart’

The singer and songwriter of country and rock music known as BluesRock & Country Inc. has released his fourth LP album, “Rock’n Roll Heart.” The full-length record contains 10 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 35 minutes. Like previous releases from BluesRock, it has been proudly published as an independent record without the direction of the corporate music industry. Built on deep grooves, twanging guitar strings and raw, warm vocals, “Rock’n Roll Heart” makes a strong argument that BluesRock & Country Inc. may be Southwest Africa’s most genuine rock export.

While “Rock’n Roll Heart” officially comes from the BluesRock & Country Inc. project, the true heart of the record is Namibia’s Jos Slabbert, an Afrikaner of French-Irish descent on the coast of the Namib desert.

Asked to cite some favorites, Slabbert has no problem: “Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Elvis Presley’s first three albums, Allman Brothers, John Mayal and the Bluesbreakers, Keb Mo, the Living Blues, Taj Mahal – too many, really, to mention.”

But what he says next tells the audiophile everything needed to understand “Rock’n Roll Heart.”

“Of all the influences,” Slabbert writes, “blues in many of its colours and variations has played a major role, and as I became older, country music started playing an increasing role, too.”

He notes that “Even Elvis Costello does country now that he has become older and tamer.” However, nothing sounds tame about “Rock’n Roll Heart” for listeners familiar with rock music.

Songs like “I Feel So Good Today” and “I Need Your Sweet Inspiration” remind us that distorted guitars and a one-two beat aren’t necessary for a driving, aggressively upbeat tune. It would verge on futility to find a saxophone lead on an indie release as effective as Slabbert’s, too. Blues chord progressions and lyric themes color the entire LP, while Slabbert’s singing ranges from an unpretentious Elvis to a less tremulous Neil Young. The blend of country and classic rock-n-roll braids as seamlessly as it does on a Creedence Clearwater Revival record.

All in all, “tame” is not the word.

“When composing, I often adopt the simple, direct structural approach of the ’60’s and ’70s,” Slabbert writes. This minimalist style of songwriting translates into a friendly-yet-insistent wave that picks listeners up and runs with them.

Asked to describe the themes of “Rock’n Roll Heart,” BluesRock & Country Inc. says, “Most of the songs on this album are about personal relationships, the central theme being love and its ups and downs, but with an optimistic stance in spite of the odds. The tenth track is shamelessly political and naive, but I like it. I think it does express what many people feel, and even though I wrote it about eight years ago, it has become relevant in a political world where hatred has become fashionable, and I don’t mean just in the USA.”

In the end, Slabbert states that there is a unifying message behind his new album.

“In spite of the odds seemingly working against it, hatred having become fashionable to so many, love will prevail. Sigh! I know I’m naive, but I can’t help it.”

“Rock’n Roll Heart” from BluesRock & Country Inc. is available online worldwide from over 600 quality digital music retailers now. Get in early, blues, rock and country music fans.

Electronica artist Vire releases new EP ‘No Screens’

The artist of electronica known as Vire (often stylized VIRE) has released his latest EP album, “No Screens.” The extended-play record contains five original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 20 minutes. It has been proudly published on the VIREmusic independent record label without the direction of the corporate music industry. Ambient, pulsing, and somehow retro and futuristic at the same time, “No Screens” by Vire gives a fitting voice to the 21st century.

Vire cites as main artistic influences Fugazi, Battles, Mogwai, and Justice. While his own sound has something in common with each (the creativity of Fugazi, the modernity of Battles, the epic buildup of Mogwai, the solid beats of Justice) Vire’s “No Screens” conjures memories of the original 1982 Blade Runner soundtrack by Vangelis right away.

This will impress audiophiles for two reasons: first, because music lovers have appreciated Vangelis as a vanguard of electronica for decades; and second, because Vire has used 100% analog instruments for “No Screens.” Presumably, this fact provides the inspiration for the title.

Vire himself says of this, “The latest record ‘No Screens’ is a move in a completely new direction. It’s an instrumental record that contains no drum machines, pads, loops, or samples. Instead, ‘No Screens’ was created completely with live-recorded drums and percussion combined with analog synths and other instrumentation. This new approach creates a far more appealing and ‘real/organic’ sound and feel.”

Quick Before It Melts calls Vire’s “Human Contact” EP, “a propulsive, kinetic performance, and some of the best dance music I’ve heard in ages.”

I Die: You Die called his “One After the Other” from the “Surrender” EP, “Fresh acid from emerging Toronto producer VIRE. Nice builds with some classic electro stabbing.”

The We F-cking Love Music Blog writes of Vire, “This amazing one-man band literally built his own electronic drum kit.”

The Torontoist writes, “Noisy, distorted, and just a little disturbing, yet also really, really danceable, VIRE is probably one of the more interesting electronic acts of the festival.”

“No Screens” by Vire is available from over 600 quality digital music retailers online worldwide now. Get in early. Very early.
