Caroline Mason releases new EP album ‘That Feeling Inside’

The songwriter and co-producer of electronic indie art rock music known as Caroline Mason has released her latest official EP album, “That Feeling Inside.” It has been proudly published as an independent release without the involvement of the corporate music industry with an accompanying music video (link provided below). Delicate yet powerful, lilting yet courageous, “That Feeling Inside” showcases Caroline Mason as a startling example of the indie category’s ability to overturn pop’s vast advantage in the music market today.

Charlotte, NC’s Caroline Mason cites as main artistic influences Radiohead, Sufjan Stevens, Son Lux, Mount Kimbie and Juana Molina. With an emphasis on emotional evocation, lyric poetry, and imagery born both sonically and of its official video, “That Feeling Inside” by Caroline Mason has a little something for everybody.

Asked to describe the overall theme of “That Feeling Inside,” Caroline Mason writes,

“We were born into the world with a simplicity of self ingrained in us, a weightlessness, and over time it got corroded, doubted and jaded by all these external forces at play in the world around. ‘That Feeling Inside’ is a song about remembering who we are from within, holding onto our core strongly when upsets and external distractions attempt to drift us away. It is a song meant to ground us, moving us toward our refined selves.”

This theme plays out along all the tracks on Mason’s new extended-play record, in fact.

“The message of the EP in its entirety,” she says, “is about being free to navigate your inner world in order to understand core emotions with honesty and vulnerability.”

While the EP has a character all its own, it is particularly graced and signified by the official music video for “That Feeling Inside.” In addition to Caroline Mason’s music, it boasts art by visual creative director, Christal Angelique Pashaian and dancer Essence Saterfield. Mason has worked with Pashaian on all the video singles for her new EP so far with Pashaian acting as creator and director of each.

“I have been so thrilled with the way [Pashaian] understands how to turn the concepts of my songs into beautiful visual representations,” writes Mason. “She shot and edited, ‘That Feeling Inside’ in the Utah desert on Super-8mm film sliced with some digital footage captured.”

Pashaian herself says of the video:

“I wanted the visuals to display the different emotions within movement. ‘The Light,’ grounding us to our center, the core of who we are. To believe in ourselves and to not forget who we are and are determined to move forward. The blue dress in this film is representing earth, going back and forth from blue to white, earth to divine. The white dress is representing a cloak of internal purity, unstained from the forces of human thought.”

And what of the EP as a whole? Mason says to fans new and old:

“What I would hope my audience comes away with from these songs is a deeper connection to themselves. We have such a beautiful and complex inner world waiting for us to explore and be more acquainted with.”

Caroline Mason is currently pursuing a degree in Songwriting & Music Production at Berklee College of Music online while continuing to work on new song releases from her home studio.

“That Feeling Inside” by Caroline Mason is available from quality digital music stores online worldwide now. Get in early, electronic indie art rock music fans.
