Jeap Yang releases new LP ‘The Yin Quest’

The singer and songwriter of R ‘n’ B and soul music known as Jeap Yang has released his latest LP album, “The Yin Quest.” The record has been proudly released on the Bravesoul Ent. independent music label without the involvement or influence of the corporate music industry. At nearly one full hour of listening and containing no fewer than 12 original tracks for the music fans listening enjoyment, “The Yin Quest” is one of the most highly textured and evocative modern soul records to appear in many years.

Asked to list some of his main artistic influences, Jeap Yang cites soul and R ‘n’ B legends such as India.Arie, Mary J. Blige, Des’ree, and Phil Collins. Each of these lends an attribute to Yang’s own distinctive style and sound. His “The Yin Quest” bears the soulfulness of India.Arie, the precision of Mary J. Blige, the emotional impact of Des’ree, and a seemingly natural flow in his songwriting which is reminiscent of songs from Phil Collins.

Also not unlike Collins’ music is Yang’s lyrical content. His songs are meticulously written and boast insightful, often introspective themes which bring a narrative depth beyond just romantic ballads (which ballads are of course a traditional part of the soul and R ‘n’ B genres, and which Yang has also included on his record).

Speaking of his lyrics on “The Yin Quest,” Jeap Yang writes, “’The Yin Quest’ reflects life’s journey: from insecurity to self-esteem, from grief to forgiveness, from love-loss to finding love through faith.”

Overall, his record is uplifting and has optimistic undertones.

“The album has an inspirational message,” he writes of this. “We all are in search of something, be it love, career, family, etc… We all are set on the quest to our Yin. I hope that listeners will be inspired to see that life is amazing, despite its ups and downs.”

“The Yin Quest” by Jeap Yang is available online worldwide. Fans of R ‘n’ B and soul should get in early.

Taylor James releases new single ‘Good News’

The singer and songwriter of contemporary R ‘n’ B and soul known as Taylor James has released his latest single, “Good News.” It has been proudly published on the Hearts of Gold Music independent record label, entirely without financial or managerial support from the corporate music entities. Infused with elements of funk, soul, gospel and rhythm ‘n’ blues, “Good News” is a glorious modern iteration of the Motown sound as well as an upbeat musical push for better social values.

Taylor James (born James Albert Taylor) cites as main artistic influences Godfather of Soul James Brown and mastermind music mogul Quincy Jones. Taylor James’ own sound and style on “Good News” possesses many of the most important qualities of these. Perhaps most prominently, it exhibits the unstoppable funk and groove of James Brown, but also the razor-sharp songwriting and studio production of Quincy Jones. Lush, danceable and highly textured, “Good News” is easily one of the most powerful singles of 2014 to seamlessly blend no fewer than three genres of music, and indeed probably more.

Taylor James was born in 1953 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He is a graduate of Jackson State University with a degree in music and a minor in recording engineering. He has been writing, recording and producing music since the age of 17. James served as drummer and lead vocalist for Wynd Chymes, whose two LP albums are still in circulation online. His own first album, “No Way Out” appeared on the Great Southern Productions (GSP) music label in 1984. He wrote and produced music under GSP from 1976-1990, after which time he built his own studio and recorded such popular artists as Willie Clayton, Bobby Rush, the William Brothers and the Canton Spirituals.

“Good News” is the most significant release from Taylor James in recent years, and has been published concurrently with an instrumental version as well as an official, high-gloss music video. It is the first of several tracks to be released from Taylor in late 2014, including such other titles as “Olde School,” “A Taylormade Christmas,” and “Say It’s Me / Living for You.” Each has been produced and published by the Hearts of Gold Music label.

“Good News” by Taylor James is available online worldwide.
