Rapper P.O.P. releases full-length album ‘As We Know It’

The indie hip hop artist known as Patterns of Perfection (P.O.P.) has released his new LP record, “As We Know It.” The full-length album contains 10 original tracks for a total listening time of over half an hour. Like the rapper’s other material, it has been proudly published on the World Records® independent music label without the aid or direction of the corporate music industry. A work of both perceptive urban poetry and colorful melodic character, “As We Know It” is further evidence that Patterns of Perfection is one of hip hop’s most inventive indie artists today.

Asked to cite some influences for his “As We Know It” LP, Patterns of Perfection points to “All genres of music. Any musician or band who has a unique sound or art that they have developed. Philosophy, politics, history and dreams.”

While this may sound too broad to glean anything about the album, in fact P.O.P.’s record sounds exactly like this. If unique styles from several categories of music and creativity were poured into the ear of a man with a taste for old-school hip hop, and if this man were socially aware and had plenty of thoughts on a range of topics, he might produce a record very much like “As We Know It.”

Audiophiles can get a good grasp of how singular Patterns’ brand of rap is by paying attention to the open-verse method and reflexive use of vocabulary on “Elsewhere,” Track 3, and by listening to the catchy melody lines and pop sensibilities present in “Matrimony,” Track 7. The songs are very unlike one another, and they are much unlike the other songs on the record. It is a multifaceted LP with something for every fan of hip hop (or even only of poetry).

Also notable is the analog methodology behind P.O.P.’s music.

“My music is created from scratch from start to finish,” he writes. “There are no pre-made samples. I use virtual or physical instruments, including beat boxes, and implement everything manually.”

This translates into textures which allow for minimalism in instrumentation, letting his lyric talent stay in the spotlight where it belongs.

Asked to describe the overall theme of the record, Patterns of Perfection is concise.

“That nothing truly ends,” he says.

“As We Know It” by Patterns of Perfection is available from over 700 quality digital music stores online worldwide now. Get in early, hip hop fans.

Rapper Patterns of Perfection releases new LP ‘The Big P.O.P.’

The rapper and songwriter known as Patterns of Perfection has released his long-awaited, third studio LP record, “The Big P.O.P.” The album contains no fewer than 14 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 50 minutes. It has been proudly published on the rapper’s own World Records independent music label. Widely varied, highly textured, extremely well-written and impeccably performed, “The Big P.O.P.” isn’t just a surefire hit of the summer – it’s quite likely to be among the most addicting hip-hop albums of the year.

Nevada’s P.O.P. sites as main artistic influences some surprising inspirations, including Pink Floyd, Zion-I, Eminem, Blockhead, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, the Cool Kids, Black Eyed Peas, Godsmack, Lil’ Wayne, Freddy Machete, and Fort Minor. If music fans can glean anything from this sonic spread, it’s that Patterns of Perfection is an artist with a knack for music appreciation. Appropriately, his new LP is a grab-bag of goodness that punches from several angles at once.

“The Big P.O.P.” is definitely a rap record through and through, but calling it a rap album doesn’t at all describe it. P.O.P.’s new LP is easily one of the least-derivative hip-hop releases ever produced, unique to the bone and totally peerless. Comparisons are impossible.

Patterns of Perfection’s instrumentation turns on a dime. His effects each seem newly invented specifically for its track. The result is that “The Big P.O.P.” is totally unpredictable from track to track except that every song delivers, every song being of the highest quality, so that the top-shelf skill with which the rapper performs becomes the running thread which keeps the LP consistent from beginning to end. Back-to-back plays of the record on repeat are virtually guaranteed.

Fans of old-school rap will love “The Big P.O.P.” for its ingenuity and raw beats. Fans of contemporary rap will love it for its pure hip-hop soul. Fans of other music genres will love it for its intellect and creativity. In short, “The Big P.O.P.” by Patterns of Perfection doesn’t just have something for everyone, it’s got more of it than anyone is likely to get anywhere else.

“The Big P.O.P.” by Patterns of Perfection is available online worldwide beginning 4 July 2015. Get in early, rap fans. Get in very early.

P.O.P. releases new LP ‘Pappa’s Back’

The rapper known as Patterns of Perfection (P.O.P.) has released his latest LP, “Pappa’s Back.” The record is composed of 13 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 50 minutes. It has been proudly published on the World Records independent music label entirely without support of the corporate music industry. A cutting-edge rap record with endless amounts of ingenuity and imagination, “Pappa’s Back” is hip hop with all the best qualities of the old school, published at a time when the urban music scene so desperately needs it.

P.O.P. cites as main artistic influences an amalgam of different artists, including Pink Floyd, Blockhead, Eminem, Freddy Machette, Bob Marley, Lil Wayne, Dylan, Linkin Park, Fort Minor, and Zion I. His own sound, however, cannot be surmised on the basis of his listening habits.

“Pappa’s Back” boasts great variety in terms of tempo, tone and themes. There are party tracks, groove tracks, chillout tracks, hardcore tracks, and tracks P.O.P. seems to have included just for fun. Taking a moment to sample tracks like “Anthem” “Horizon”, “Teach Me How to POP” and “Expialidocious” yields a quick conclusion: “Pappa’s…” is clearly worth its weight in vinyl.

Thematically speaking, P.O.P.’s lyrics are intelligently crafted, ranging from clever to downright impressive, and often with a healthy dose of humor besides. Though packaged with both lighthearted and heavier songs, “Pappa’s Back” doesn’t make the mistake of taking itself too seriously, as P.O.P.’s grinning face on the album cover seems to hint.

Patterns of Perfection was born in South Lake Tahoe, CA. His first record, “A New Age,” appeared on digital shelves in 2013 bearing no fewer than 17 original tracks, and is still available from iTunes and various other outlets. Shortly after, the artist’s hand was caught in machinery, leaving him with a full year’s recovery time during which he composed only instrumental music. Having relocated to Gardnerville, NV by way of Colorado, P.O.P. toured the US for his second and third times and settled down to produce “Pappa’s Back” under his own World Records label.

Upon being asked, “What message does your album share with its listeners?” P.O.P. answers simply, “We all are in this together.”

“Pappa’s Back” by P.O.P. is available online worldwide.
