Big Flame Thrower releases new rap single ‘I Be Working’

The hip hop performer known as Big Flame Thrower has released his latest rap single, “I Be Working.” The track has been proudly published on the Flamed Up Records independent music label without the control of the corporate music industry. Booming with bass and flexing with healthy aggression, “I Be Working” by Big Flame Thrower proves that hip hop in 2016 is stronger than ever.

New Orleans’ Big Flame Thrower cites as main artistic influences Jay-Z, D.M.X, Soulja Slim, Jadakiss, the Notorious BIG, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent and Birdman.

“Really everyone who’s making a living doing music,” writes Big Flame. “Successful artists influence me. Young Thug, Future, 2 Chains, Drake, and Yo Gotti are the artists of this era that I look to for influence.”

Big Flame Thrower’s name hints at his style of hip hop production. “I Be Working” brings big, big sound and intelligent, even inspiring lyrics. Flame raps from the heart with drum and bass to back him in a solid, sonic wall. Synth melody lines are clever and surprising, unique and effective. While it’s a positive, empowering hip hop track, the sound of “…Working” is ominous and dark.

“I Be Working” is the first single from his upcoming project, “Real Talk Vol II.” It’s also a personal track.

“My album will tell my story,” Flame writes. “How I live, how I came from nothing and against all odds – I still do this. It will display pain, raw talent, strong sexual music, and also songs that’s thought provoking, just something a little different from the normal. It will give you a look into my life.”

Big Flame Thrower broke into the scene with his debut solo project, “My Time to Shine.” He has been called by fans and friends by several names: Black Sheep, World Wide, and simply, “Rap.” He has been freestyle rapping since 12. He has shared the stage with popular Louisiana artists such as Lil Josh & Lil Earnest, Sam I Am, U.N.L.V, Outlaw Music Group, 5th Ward Weebie, Webbie, Asia Sky, Lil Boosie, Hot Boy Ronald, U.T.P, BDMG, Mr. Magic (No Limit), Lava House Records, and more. He has opened for acts as well-known as the Party Boys, B.G., Huey, Canibus, and U.G.K. Records.

The rapper is a humble man but one with plenty of ambition.

“Though very few people outside of Louisiana and Mississippi have heard of Big Flame Thrower,” he says, “make no mistake that my drive, persistence, humility, and talent will take me just where I’m destined to go – to stardom.”

“I Be Working” by Big Flame Thrower is available online worldwide at over 700 digital music stores beginning 19 July 2016.

Nina Maria releases new sonic-art album ‘From My Upbringing’

The rapper and sonic artist known as Nina Maria has released a new, full-length album, titled, “From My Upbringing.” The record contains no fewer than 28 tracks for a grand total of approximately two hours’ listening time. It has been proudly published on the Coinxiding Arts Entertainment independent record label. Bringing together the synth beats of hip hop and the earnestness of spoken-word poetry, “From My Upbringing” is a rare delivery of truth from this inimitable artist from Missouri.

“From My Upbringing” is not simply music. In addition to rapping that comes off-the-cuff as naturally as breathing, Nina Maria’s new album has elements of improvisational jazz which make it remarkable as fine, sonic art. It is plainly real. The artist does not pretend, posture, or pose, neither coats, nor gilds, nor adorns these words. The result is a collection of stream-of-consciousness English which describes this thinking, feeling person in as clear and direct a manner as language can make possible.

The bitter circumstances which make this possible are several, but largely it is the creative method of the artist which makes this record the thing of beauty that it is. Every one of Nina Maria’s lyrics are improvised. The recordings are, therefore, live performances.

“I freestyle all my songs now,” the artist writes, “because I have schizo-effective disorder. I also make all my beats.”

The story leading up to this legitimate work of genius describes (and is not limited to) graduating high school with a 5.0 GPA via advanced-placement classes, a tour with the US Marines as a computer systems specialist, an abusive relationship, a stint of homelessness, and an ongoing battle with schizophrenia.

– And as stated, this is not nearly the entire story: “I was misidentified by someone from a shooting in the [Columbia, MO] area. I was arrested and up against 30 years. I took a plea when the number got to four [years] because I knew they were trying to hang me out to dry. I did two inside and walked down two years’ parole. By God’s grace He got me back to Eolia.”

Nina Maria responded to this maltreatment by releasing four digital albums. “From My Upbringing” is merely the latest in a repertoire which includes also 2014’s “Santa Maria’s Corruption” and “By the Way,” published only last spring. Each has been made available online worldwide and is categorized as rap and spoken-word poetry.

Maria cites as main artistic influences Beethoven, Stevie Wonder, the Isley Brothers, DJ Paul, and a Tribe Called Quest.

Asked to comment on the themes and messages of “From My Upbringing,” Nina Maria writes, “No matter who you are, we all go through ups and downs and struggle.”

“From My Upbringing” by Nina Maria is a glorious celebration of individuality, the naked sound of a person skilled in rhythm and rhyme speaking thoughts in song. It is a representation not just of Nina Maria, but of us all, and it deserves much praise and attention.

Rapper King Shabazz releases new single ‘My Day’

The rapper and performer of hip hop known as King Shabazz has released his latest official single, “My Day.” The single has been produced by Chill and released as an independent track outside the influence of the corporate music industry. Inspirational, heavy-hitting, and performed to a laid-back back beat that’s full of groove and bass, “My Day” is the King Shabazz single his fans have been clamoring for.

Asked to cite some main artistic influences, King Shabazz lays down a personal Top 10.

He writes, “My active artist influences are 50 Cent, Drake, Lecrae, Talib Kweli, Trip Lee, Aloe Blacc, Usher, Chris Brown, Lupe Fiasco, and Mega Ran.”

Shabazz’s own sound takes cues from each of these and mixes them into a new style of hip hop, one which has a uniquely East-Coast sound. Of particular importance to “My Day” are King Shabazz’s lyrics, which the artist meticulously crafts into his signature brand of urban poetry.

“My song is meant to inspire and motivate those who listen to it to get up, believe in themselves, and go get what they want,” writes King Shabazz. “I want those who listen to learn not to waste any day because life is too short and we all have the power to make our day as great or as horrible as we choose.”

King Shabazz hails from Laurens, SC, and has been called “The Hip-Hop Traveler.” Shabazz penned his first song at the age of 12 and has previously performed under the “Soull Tha Phenom” alias as well as his real name, Rassoull Shabazz. Shabazz published his first unofficial album, “A.U.E. Presents… Arts & Dreams” in 2013, followed by a second unofficial album, “C.A.S.H.” in 2014. Several mixtapes have also been released from the artist over the years.

Shabazz has been featured on the PBS Kids network (Ball State University’s Electronic Field Trip, “Going Going Faster”), in Makin’ It Magazine, and on Wolfpack Ent. Blogtalk Radio. His latest mixtape, “Take the Throne” stems from the same principles which inform his new “My Day” single. His current official bio places him in Okinawa, Japan, “grinding hard, traveling, and performing for the local citizens of the Island,” explaining that “Shabazz aims to empower listeners with the ability to believe in themselves, help others, have fun, and never give up.”

“My aim is to travel the world doing what I love and to inspire as many people as possible to do the same,” writes King Shabazz.

Since 2013 Shabazz has traveled to six countries and is planning to perform in the United Kingdom next.

“My Day” by King Shabazz is available online worldwide.
