Charles Afton releases new EP ‘Lost Snowman Part 1’

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –

The composer and producer of music known as Charles Afton has released his latest EP record, titled, “Lost Snowman Part 1.” The record is comprised of five original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 20 minutes. It has been released on the Meridian Music record label. A warm, yet cool contemporary jazz record populated with synth chimes and wintry melodies backed by groovy bass guitar, Charles Afton’s “Lost Snowman Part 1” is both aptly titled and highly suitable for Christmas get-togethers of any circumstance.

Afton cites as main artistic influences Thievery Corporation, Buddah Bar, psychedelic funk in general, and the catalog of British progressive rock. These inspirations appear in “Lost Snowman Part 1” mostly in its unstoppable rhythms, which carry the music surely and steadily and produce a soothing, mellow feel that spices up the holiday tone of his instrumentation in unique and singular ways.

“Having a background in lounge and chill-out albums such as ‘Lost Sunset Lounge,’ ‘Cabana Beach Club,’ and ‘Reindeer Room,’ among others,” Afton writes, “I’ve noticed that there has been little, if any, wintery-feel and groovy-chill music.”

Music fans interested in checking this claim are certain to come up empty handed. The sound is highly specialized and virtually untapped.
“’Lost Snowman’ has this feel,” he continues, “but is not solely placed as a holiday album. It is certainly a clear alternative to the usual style of Christmas albums that can be played casually in any holiday environment.”

This subtlety of mood allows for “Lost Snowman” to work just as well on a Friday night in June when “Jingle Bells” would seem ridiculous, yet its Yuletide undertones come to the surface quite obviously when matched with the trappings that typify the Christmas atmosphere.

Charles Afton comes from a music background in London, UK. He has produced and remixed dozens of tracks for many US record labels, including StreetBeat Records, Pandisc, Kryztal, Hot, and Universal Music. He remixed and reworked multiple titles from the Motown catalog. He has composed and produced many titles, particularly his own “Lost Sunset Lounge” album. His “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies” is one of the most popular editions of the classic on iTunes.

“Lost Snowman Part 1” by Charles Afton is available online worldwide beginning 12 December 2013.
