Afrokeys releases new LP album ‘The Jovian Nomad’

Afrokeys, accomplished composer of digital music and nine-year alumnus of the legendary band, Atmosphere, has released his new solo LP “The Jovian Nomad.” The album is comprised of 12 new, original tracks for a total playing time of around 40 minutes. True audiophiles and longtime fans of digital music have many reasons to rejoice in the publication of this remarkable, surprise release from Afrokeys. Proclaimed by the artist himself as a “musical sketchbook of sorts,” “The Jovian Nomad” is an adventurous, experimental, endlessly fun traipse through the sonic imagination of one of electronica’s most important and seminal composers since the year 2000.

The sheer playfulness of “The Jovian Nomad” is worth the price of admission alone. Proudly boasting creative titles such as “Spartacus of Narnia,” “Melting on Tatooine,” and “The Castle Where Bruce Willis Lives,” Afrokeys’ album is clearly written to amuse, though its labyrinthine twists and turns hide many more intense and occasionally sinister sounds, as well. “Shots Fired” is an aptly named thriller with nitroglycerine in its veins. “J-Ville” is a lurking tough guy dragging his knuckles through the dark alleys of an urban hellscape at midnight.

Naturally, there’s also a heavy, healthy dose of style which is really the heart and soul of the record. Perhaps no track on Afrokeys’ new LP is more indicative of this than the enigmatically titled, “Post Berlin,” which is funky, groovy, and everything his fans could possibly expect from him. Listeners who appreciate sophisticated songwriting will raise their eyebrows in approval of the delicate “Post London,” in which Afrokeys shows off his classical music chops and proves hands-down that the man can write just about anything he likes, and can never be predicted.

All in all, “The Jovian Nomad” by Afrokeys is an obviously personal full-length album that displays his true character for all the world to see. It is an audio journal of sorts, a gorgeous, multifaceted gem of a record that is a precious, unlikely gift to his legion of fans, a window into what happens when a musical genius plays whatever music he wants to play, however he wants to play it at the time. Get in early.

“The Jovian Nomad” by Afrokeys is available online worldwide.
